03/20 - Ryboy's Friday Blog: Week 5
RYBOY’S FRIDAY BLOG
Playoff picture forming stay tuned.
Winner: Gray 45 Loser: Blue 30
Gray is at the point in life when they transition from
high school to college. They become more mature, they
have a new perspective, and they have an identity.
Their identity is running. Coleman Chung, Matt
Hedges, and Neil Wong set the pace this game and got a
lot of uncontested lay-ups. Coleman, the point guard,
led the team in rebounds. They did not look back.
The gray team plays its best when they set the pace.
When Coleman Chung has an efficient game, the white
team will be in any game. Alan Lin missed a
double-double by 1 point. Midseason report cards did
come out last week, but there was an accidental
omission. There was no mention of Neil Wong, who
probably is the most consistent scorer, next to Greg
Wong, in the league and is solid on the boards. The
Gray team is building up some momentum going into the
playoffs and is looking to knock off one of the three
Allied powers.
Winner: Green 52 Loser: White 47
Like a 3 legged orange and gray cat with no tail
getting hit by a car and turning into a furry pancake
of road kill. You get the point…it was ugly. This
was a game plagued by fouls and turnovers.
Fortunately, one of the teams had to win and it was
the Green team who executed down the stretch. Adam
set the league record with seven steals and had a
quiet eighteen points. JC almost had a double- double
in the first fifteen minutes of the game and was on
pace for a 30 rebound night, but slowed his rebound
production and ended up with 11 points and 16
rebounds. Sherman Lee, once again, led the team with
sixteen points and six rebounds. The green team has
a bunch of good man to man defenders then limits shots
because of good defensive rebounding. The white team,
still looking for their first win will face the gray
team next week.
Winner Red 41 Loser Black 40
The game had a playoff feel to it. Both teams tried
and scratched to get their team the win. It was like
watching a horror movie, when you see Chucky lurking
right behind that corner In this case, it was Greg.
Greg checked in with a minute remaining, and the black
team with a one point lead. He got to the line, and
felt the pressure, missing two consecutive free
throws. In a blink he collected his own miss then
got to the line again. This time he converted both.
White team threw up a prayer that did not go.
